Usbong Update (Nov. 8, 2012): Japanese Text-To-Speech + Usbong = OK

Hi everyone,

Here's the latest update on Usbong.

Tasks accomplished:

  • allow: Text-to-speech (TTS) of Japanese text 
  • fixed: forced close error when attempting to perform TTS in utree selection
    •  Android TTS supports only English, Spanish, German, French, and Italian languages free-of-charge
    • use svox classic, a Classic Text To Speech Engine (Japanese) (sold separately; 2.99USD)
    • modified Usbong code to use svox classic (Japanese)
    • therefore, it is now possible for Usbong to speak in Filipino, English, and Japanese

I've also just uploaded the latest .apk in Google Play.
You should be able to get it within 24hrs.

The code has also been uploaded to Google Code for your perusal.
