Usbong Update: Still Alive and Kicking (Dec. 15, 2013)

Hi everyone,
It's been awhile since our last Usbong update,
but rest assured we are still alive and kicking.

Recently, we received a request to build
an interactive storybook for a paying client,
and so our energies and resources
are mainly focused on delivering the product on time.
We plan to complete the project by early Jan of 2014.

Furthermore, we are almost done with FITS,
i.e. Forest in the Sky, where people can upload
usbong trees that are each at most 3MB in size.
Special thanks to Diane Gonzales for working on this,
despite her constantly busy schedule.

Also, our paper on Usbong DCAT
(DOTS Compliance Assessment Tool)
has been shortlisted in the Tech4Dev Conference
,
which is scheduled to happen in
Geneva, Switzerland, next year, 2014.
Note though that this does not yet mean that
our paper has been finally accepted.
We'll still need to submit a full paper,
and if that is accepted, then we get to present.
Special thanks to Dr. Dennis Batangan of the IPC
(Institute of Philippine Culture),
and Dr. Reena Estuar, who is my dissertation advisor.

Regarding upcoming features of Usbong,
based on requests and popular demand,
we think that we should get the
data encryption/decryption functionality
up and running already, especially

Feel free to drop me an email for questions,
comments, and/or more feature requests.

This is all for now.
